1The problem

AI visibility without trust is temporary. Trust without infrastructure doesn’t scale. AITP™ is the infrastructure.

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence has produced an environment in which:

  • Synthetic media is increasingly indistinguishable from authentic content
  • Misinformation spreads at machine speed through AI-amplified channels
  • The economics of fabrication have collapsed; producing convincing fakes costs cents
  • Trust in digital content is eroding faster than any prior media transition

Existing verification efforts, C2PA Content Credentials, Adobe’s provenance work, Trustpilot, the Better Business Bureau, and others, address parts of the problem. None of them, individually, provide a public, machine-readable, cryptographically anchored verification layer that can be consumed at scale by AI systems making real-time decisions about what to surface, cite, or reference.

The internet does not yet have a standardized verification primitive that AI systems and humans can both consult.

2The shift

The substrate of online discovery is changing:

  • SearchAI-driven discovery. Users increasingly ask AI assistants rather than search engines.
  • ContentSynthetic generation. A growing share of new content is created by AI rather than by humans.
  • VisibilityMachine recognition. Whether a brand, person, or claim is referenced by AI systems matters as much as ranking in search did a decade ago.

In this paradigm, AI systems determine what is seen, trusted, and referenced. The infrastructure that tells those AI systems what to trust becomes the new search engine optimization layer, except instead of optimizing for keywords, the optimization is for verifiable trust.

3The solution: VERA

VERA is a public verification infrastructure that:

  • Documents the authenticity status of digital content
  • Provides evidence-based classifications using the framework defined in the Verification Standard v1.1
  • Anchors every record to QUBIT Blockchain® for tamper-evident immutability
  • Exposes machine-readable trust signals consumable by AI systems via API
  • Operates publicly, lookup is free, dispute is free, transparency is mandatory

VERA classifications are signals, not adjudications. They do not replace human judgment; they make judgment possible at scale.

4Core capabilities

  • Deepfake detection and classification. Visual forensic cascade across multiple AI vision models, evidence-tier review, cryptographic recording.
  • AI-generation identification. Multi-platform consensus across AIBlackBox-routed AI systems (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, DeepSeek) for AI-generation likelihood.
  • Cryptographic registry of verified records. Every record is hashed, signed, and anchored. Tampering is detectable by anyone.
  • Public transparency and auditability. Methodology disclosed, accuracy metrics published quarterly, external audit annually.
  • Brand response infrastructure. Subjects of records can claim listings, respond to incidents, and (via V-Verify) submit verified counter-evidence.

5The AI Trust Protocol™ (AITP)

VERA does not stand alone. It is one layer in a coordinated trust ecosystem, the AI Trust Protocol™, that includes:

  • VERA, the verification & registry layer. Public records, evidence-based classifications, cryptographic anchoring. Credibility out.
  • V-Verify, the third-party claim verification layer. Verified factual statements about an entity, issued under a paid evidence review process. Auto-listed in VERA. Money in.
  • VeraGraph, the AI-citation monitoring layer. Daily measurement of how an entity is cited across AI platforms; brand-specific intelligence with 17 autonomous agents. Eyeballs in.
  • FeedSync AI, the distribution layer. Authenticated push of brand profiles into AI training corpora and reference channels. Reach out.
  • QXAI Agent, the trust-action automation layer. Per-user provisioned AI agents with sovereign compute (Google-provisioned Gemini CLI per subscriber).

Together these products form a closed loop: AI sees you (VeraGraph), you prove what’s true (V-Verify), the registry records it (VERA), distribution pushes it back to AI systems (FeedSync). VERA is the destination, the public proof that anchors the whole loop.

The protocol’s normative specification and its research basis, drawn from peer-reviewed work on AI sourcing, citation, and manipulation, are published in the AI Trust Protocol standard. This whitepaper is the vision-and-implementation document for VERA; the AITP standard is the normative protocol it implements.

As of June 2026 the protocol is callable. VERA exposes the first public AITP API at /api/aitp/v1: a single resolve() verb that takes any entity query and returns a structured AITP Resolution (identity, verification state, authoritative facts, AI-citation health, trust score), alongside verify and citations. This is the infrastructure thesis in one line: AITP is to AI what SSL was to the web, a protocol any system can call to resolve trust. See the API reference.

6Architectural pillars

QUBIT Blockchain®, the immutability substrate

QUBIT Blockchain® is a user-owned, registered trademark whose development was led by Stealth Grid Corp, the steward of VERA Registry. The anchor is therefore in-house infrastructure rather than a third-party dependency. Every VERA record is hashed (SHA-256) and the hash is anchored on QUBIT’s Polygon v3 public layer. This decoupling matters: even if VERA the operator disappears, the chain of records persists and can be independently verified.

Stewardship and independence

VERA Registry is stewarded by Stealth Grid Corp, a quantum cybersecurity company operating since 2012 that led the development of QUBIT Blockchain®. Media Minds AI Group operates the commercial platforms (V-Verify, VeraGraph, FeedSync AI, QXAI Agent), and the QuantumX Project provides the backing and quantum-ready infrastructure. These entities are commonly held, and we disclose that plainly. To ensure long-term neutrality, VERA is being transitioned into an independent foundation governed by a diverse external board. Independence is meant to come from that governance, the open standard, and the public on-chain record of every classification and revocation that lets anyone audit the auditor, not from a corporate diagram.

AIBlackBox™, the LLM router

AIBlackBox is the QuantumX-owned multi-platform AI router. It queries six independent AI platforms for any given verification task, consolidates their responses, and shields the verification methodology from single-vendor lock-in. This is critical: a verification system that depends on one AI provider is one provider away from manipulation.

Heavy backend, thin frontends

VERA, V-Verify, VeraGraph, FeedSync, QXAI Agent, and AI CEO all share one backend service (vtaas-backend) on Google Cloud Run. New surfaces are blueprint additions, not new services. This compounds: every product makes the underlying backend more capable; every new product is a marginal-cost addition.

7Threat model and adaptive response

Synthetic content generation is a moving target. Classification methods that work in 2026 will be partially circumvented by 2027. VERA addresses this through:

  • Multi-method evidence framework (no single detection technique is load-bearing)
  • Multi-platform AI consensus (single-platform manipulation produces evidence divergence, itself a signal)
  • Quarterly accuracy reporting with explicit false-positive and false-negative bands
  • Annual independent audit with methodology review
  • Public methodology updates with version-controlled change logs and public-comment periods

When detection accuracy for a given classification degrades materially, the Verification Council reviews methodology and either updates the Standard or marks the affected classifications as carrying reduced confidence pending revision.

8Regulatory positioning

VERA is designed to be aligned with, but not dependent on, emerging AI regulation:

  • EU AI Act, VERA records satisfy transparency-of-AI-generated-content requirements at the artifact level
  • US AI Executive Orders, VERA’s evidence framework supports content-provenance disclosure standards
  • State-level deepfake legislation, VERA’s “Deepfake / Fabricated” classification provides admissible evidence under most state statutes
  • GDPR / right-to-be-forgotten, VERA honors jurisdictional removals while preserving the fact of removal as a record (per Charter §9)

This direction is converging quickly. In 2026, the major platforms’ own governance proposals (including Google’s A Pragmatic Approach to AI Governance in America) urged Congress to require machine-readable, tamper-resistant cryptographic provenance for generative AI, alongside independent procedural audits and an independent verification ecosystem. Those same proposals warn against blunt labeling and “label fatigue,” arguing that transparency must take the form of contextual provenance signals rather than a single “authentic” stamp. That is the model VERA already implements: graduated, evidence-backed verification delivered by a neutral authority rather than by the platforms whose content is being judged.

VERA does not seek to replace regulatory authority, and does not depend on any single regulation passing. It aligns with the consensus direction and provides the verifiable infrastructure that regulators can reference rather than recreate.

9Why it matters

In the AI era:

  • Trust becomes infrastructure. Just as TLS made the commercial internet possible, content-verification infrastructure makes the AI internet possible.
  • Verification becomes mandatory. AI systems will refuse to cite content they cannot verify; AI-driven discovery makes this mandatory rather than optional.
  • Credibility becomes machine-readable. “Trustworthy” will be a property machines can query, not just one humans can argue about.

AI won’t reference what it doesn’t trust. The infrastructure that tells AI what to trust is what VERA is building.

To establish VERA as the global standard for content verification in the AI ecosystem, the Dun & Bradstreet for the AI era. A public trust record that AI systems consult before referencing, that journalists consult before reporting, that procurement teams consult before contracting, and that any individual can consult to ask the defining question of this era:

To preserve scope and credibility, VERA explicitly is not:

  • A publisher or editorial authority
  • A legal adjudicator of liability or intent
  • A takedown service or content moderator
  • A journalistic fact-checking organization
  • A guarantor of human or organizational virtue, only of evidence-supported claims

These constraints are load-bearing. A verification infrastructure that drifts into editorial judgment loses the neutrality that makes its signals useful.

This is enforced by an explicit firewall. VERA operates editorial and community properties (VERA News™ and VERA Channels™), and the content they produce, along with community activity and AI-citation signals, contributes only to measurement (visibility and reach), never, directly or indirectly, to verification status, Trust Score, or any authoritative verdict. VERA-published sources are excluded from authoritative inputs: VERA does not grade signals VERA created.
